What Are the Three Ingredients to a Good Life?
I liked this quote so wanted to share it with you to empower your day. Author Christopher Morley said once that
"There are three ingredients in the good life:
learning, earning, and yearning."
What a great insight. Yet did he have them in the right order?
I think they should be 'yearning, learning and earning'
First we must 'yearn'.
'Yearning' means 'a persistent longing'. Your dreams that wont go away. Its the stuff you REALLY want. It hurts not having them. They are your true motivators of action for success. WHAT do you really 'yearn' for?
And then we must 'learn' BEFORE we 'earn'.
97% of people in this business do not learn enough before they focus on earning. As they are incompetent they do not 'earn' enough to make them believe the business will satisfy their yearning. So they stop.
They do this stupidity because their upline does not know how to help someone learn properly. A skill called Coaching.
It is the ONLY reason.
[97% of] 'People' DO NOT learn on their own. The manuals, videos/DVDs, meetings dont give them enough. They need INDIVIDUAL COACHING. or they will fail to be a success as a team builder.
The word between 'yearning' [the reason why you joined this industry] and 'earning' [the income that will satisfy your 'yearning'] is 'learning'...... never forget that.

Carpe Diem Verse 1
Many readers know that I finish my messages normally with Carpe Diem - Seize the Day! Someone asked me 'why' which got me thinking....
'Carpe Diem' is latin, actually its Roman, because it comes from Roman philosophy. The concept was simple - life is short, make it count. Or you have not reason for life at all.
This simple instruction underlined an empire than dominated the European world for over 700 years. You dont 'complete' the day, you 'seize' the day. Seizing implies purpose and urgency.
This is what success in our business is based on purpose AND urgency.
99% of the people getting this letter are not 'urgent'. They are not taking urgent action to build their business. They are unsatisfied.
NO urgency means no excitement. No investment.
No urgency means to people that your opportunity is small, mature or incomplete.
No urgency means that people will not overcome their natural negative emotions that create inactivity.
Ask yourself...why aren't you urgent, on purpose, taking massive action in your business right now?

In Verse 1, I talked about the relevance of 'Carpe Diem', Roman for Seize the Day! It means 'living with purpose and urgency.'
If you read this, did you think about why you are not taking urgent action in your business? Hmmm I wonder.
This is such an important subject, I want to expand it for you.
As Robin Williams so perfectly explained in the hit movie 'Dead Poets Society', there is so much life to live! He got the young boys to look at pictures of those that have been before them to inspire a greater passion for action. To live life to the full in all its richness. As life is so short.
As Shakespeare said
'All the world's a stage,
And all men and women merely players;
They have their exits and entrances.'
And what is left is their legacy.
Life is for living. Its more than consumption, families and fun. There are richer things in life. We are born with a capacity to impact others.
Your business is an incredible vehicle for you to experience, have and be more than you ever imagined. More than products and volume. Yet to experience this joy you will need to 'seize the day'....
Actually you will need to 'seize THIS day'!

Believing in People - Its hard not to be cynical!
This is a leader's challenge; believing in the potential of others when the person does not, in fact when they do and say EVERYTHING to prove that they are a hopeless case!
I am surprised most leaders are not bald as they must spend their lives 'pulling their hair out' at the plain stupidity of so many people in their business!
They say 'you must do this to be successful' yet the new, ignorant, incompetent person then 'questions' this advice! Or agrees then does nothing! AAHHHHH
I know I should be 'Politically Correct' about this and say that people just need to be 'understood and inspired' YET .....
MY BELIEF1. Society does not believe in the potential of people. [Nearly] every organisation from schools to churches, companies to families, 'talk potential' yet acts in ways that assumes people are 'sheep-people'. Stupid. They take actions designed to control and command. To provide in-build discrimination systems.
MY BELIEF2. That everyone has an incredible greatness inside them. Everyone. Even those in the later years of their lives with a history of under-achievement.
MY BELIEF 3. 95% have bought into their 'gloom & doom'. They have accepted the negative image of themselves that others have tried to get them to 'buy into' so they can be controlled. Even in the face of opportunity and logic, they procrastinate and complain.
If you want to be a leader, a team builder, a success in this business, you have a choice to make: [and its a tough choice]
EITHER believe that most people are innately weak. Promote a network system designed for under-achievement, weakness and failure. You will need to learn how to hype, manipulate and convince people to act for essentially your benefit [as they will fail in this environment]. You can become a 'rockstar' and as I have seen too often, with this approach a [tiny] few can make big money.
OR believe that people have greatness inside them and promote a system that will help [all of]them discover this inner-light and succeed. Its a harder road to take filled with frustration yet the rewards are worth it. I call this approach '100% success' and it assumes everyone has what it takes.
Its something to think about. 'Do you believe in people?'

Are You A Magnet?
Have you read or listened to The Secret by Rhonda Byrne and friends? If you haven't, you need to get it now [and your upline needs a slap!]
The Secret is the best explanation of the simple concept of 'what you think, you attract into your life.' Its not rocket science, its not an original concept YET The Secret did a wonderful [marketing] job of reminding us of this basic law of humanity.
I want to ask you the the question is 'what are you going to attract when you are talking to people?' What sort of magnet are you?
Will you attract people interested in your product YET not those interested in the business? Will you attract people interested in your business opportunity YET they will not look at your product opportunity?
If you are thinking about 'helping yourself through your business'. Obviously you will struggle to attract most people as they who want to help themselves? Do you see the difference?
What if you thought; 'I want to help people transform their life through improving their financial situation'. By starting with helping others, and being specific, what would you attract?
It seems logical to think you would attract people looking to improve their financial situation. They would feel that you want to 'help them'.
Over this weekend, think about this and be honest with yourself. Most people get it wrong. Do a 'check up from the neck up.'

One Day at a Time
We get lost sometimes in planning the future and forget about today. Yesterday is gone and tomorrow will look after itself. Today is just that 'to day'.
What are you going to do To Day?
Success in everything is just a steady line of 'To Days'.
A great book to read about taking action today is The Slight Edge by Jeff Olsen.
His simple message, learnt from the great Jim Rohn, is that life is an accumulation of what you do today. No more, no less.
Success in Direct Sales occurs because of what you do today. Not yesterday, not tomorrow, today.
So as I finish all of these letters - Carpe Diem - Seize the Day!
Or maybe it should say 'Seize TODAY!' [and your tomorrow will take care of itself]

Understanding 100% Success: What does it really mean?
I get such positive feedback from this newsletter and also a few questions. I want there to be no confusion about what I am saying so here's some clarity on what I believe:
COMPETENCE APPROACH. The Power of this business is the Network System that you get when you join. The challenge is HOW you use that system. You can have a fantastic system YET if you use it incorrectly, you will not get the results you expect. I believe that whatever system you have, it must be based on everyone focusing on learning skills FIRST until competence. This means that everyone has a 100% chance of success.
SPONSOR NUMBERS. Our business model is built on a lot of people doing a little. A lot of people means your team sponsoring a lot [NUMBERS] of people. My 100% Basics book explains why this is important and how by building skills first it means that people will be able to sponsor more people [not less]. Also Prospecting is a Numbers Game. It is impossible to know who is looking for an opportunity, especially in a recession.
NEVER PREJUDGE. Having a 'coaching focus' does not mean you prejudge people when you are prospecting! The RULE is - You must talk to everyone and never prejudge who they are. Many of the successful leaders have come from backgrounds that didn't scream 'success': debt collectors, shipyard workers, teachers. These are classic Intrapreneur types and are perfect for our business. They just need to be offered a great opportunity.
The 'targeting' does not mean restrict who you talk to! It means your message must appeal to the needs of the main type of business prospect, i.e. Intrapreneurs, so we can attract as many of them as we can. It's like fishing you need the best hook for the main type of fish you are trying to catch. This is just smart marketing.
TWO OPPORTUNITIES. Years of experience has told us that a strong network model MUST offer two distinct opportunities - an income/retail opportunity and a business/ franchise opportunity. People may start with retail and move onto the business or vice versa. I was staggered to hear that someone thought that I said 'don't retail'. Hello??? I have been a main promoter of the retail opportunity in our business for 15 years! [Against those who think you should only look for business-builders].
GUARANTEED SUCCESS/PRODUCTIVITY FOCUS. Better skills means better productivity/results which means it's EASIER to sponsor. It means that everyone can succeed because everyone can learn our key skills to competence. It DOES NOT mean that you stop sponsoring as you coach people on skills. IN FACT you should be able to sponsor MORE people as you are clearer about what your people need to be doing and your responsibility as their coach. It DOES NOT mean that everyone WILL succeed. Everyone CAN succeed YET in reality it means that some will respond to the opportunity and some will not. AND if they do not succeed then they had every opportunity to succeed and you cannot be blamed.
PROTECT YOUR TIME. This means be professional with people who join so they know what is necessary to succeed. They need direction and clear rules for success. Avoid time-wasters.
Some people were concerned about me saying 'kick the time-wasters out' in my last newsletter. Let's be clear. I was talking about that tiny group of people [maybe 10%] who join and obviously do not want to do what is necessary to succeed. They will waste your time fail, and THEN may say that your opportunity sucks. OBVIOUSLY I do not mean you exclude people with low confidence, low results or are just interested yet not taking your time up.
We are at this exciting new era of this business. The opportunities are vast YET you must not be confused on anything. Please email me if you are unclear about anything I say.

100% CONFIDENCE In NM - Success in recessions is about CONFIDENCE
Success in recessions is about CONFIDENCE.
The people you want to join are called Intrapreneurs. They are risk-adverse entrepreneurs. They will learn a system. They will work before needing to see results. They will invest their time and money willingly.
I know that for years, leaders, gurus and the like have said that we need to find entrepreneurs. This is NOT correct. Entrepreneurs are innovators. They don't learn, work or follow systems.
I know for years, people have said that "networkers need to see results quickly". Garbage! Sales people do. Entrepreneurs do. Intrapreneurs do not. They need to see progress and have confidence of success in the future.
If you challenge this then explain to me WHY the Intrapreneurs are mainly joining the franchise industry [when our opportunity is SO much better!] In a franchise they have to invest and learn for weeks, maybe months, before they produce results.
Intrapreneurs need SECURITY and above all they want CERTAINTY.
I saw an advertisement in London a couple of weeks ago that said it all. It was a big ad for The Franchise Show. 6-7 Feb 2009. Excel London.
The target market was for people looking to buy a franchise, to start a self-employed business using a proven system. That is - they are targeting the EXACT same market we are.
The banner on the ad said "START A BUSINESS THE SAFE WAY"
Get it?!
"START A BUSINESS" - this defines their target market.
"THE SAFE WAY" - this addresses the Number One fear of Intrapreneurs - failure!
Nearly everyone I know tries to sponsor people with the offer of money [i.e. positive] when the franchising industry KNOWS that first you have to deal with their Number One negative [i.e. failure].
This is why my new 100% Confidence book is written the way it is. It talks about how our industry has dealt with failure, just like franchising, based on McDonalds' leadership, through competence in skills.
